Behaviour Consultation

All services follow ethical principles laid out by the IAABC. You can either use the form on the contact page and a tailored Case history form will be sent to you, or you can download a full case history form below. Once the form is filled out please send it to the email address in the header/footer and indicate which service you would prefer to use, along with ideal times and dates for the initial consultation. Alternativly you can call to discuss the case and fill the form out over the phone.

Follow up sessions can then be booked through telephone or email. If you have multiple horses or are a yard owner interested in these services please contact me and we can discuss less standard pricing plans directly.

In addition to the prices listed below, travel distance over 10 miles from KT8 is charged at 45p per mile according to HMRC rates.

Initial consultation

£90

Case history

Before a physical consult can occur your horses history has to be collected, this involves filling out a long form (which can be done through conversation over the phone) that covers a variety of information from your horses diet to their current and previous tack as well as information gathering about the behaviour concern. After information gathering I will then develop hypotheses about why the behaviour started and develop initial plans to resolve it using current research. I may discuss the use of another paraprofessional such as an equine dental technician, farrier, physiotherapist or veterinarian before a physical consult.

Physical consult

After information gathering for the case history we will then find a date that works for you for a physical consult. This is a 2-4 hour long session involving a yard visit and discussion in person where I will observe your horse and the environment to further understand the behaviour. I will discuss all the factors that may be contributing to the behaviour, or any additional behaviours of note. On the day I will provide immediate interventions and discuss small management changes that could start to improve the behaviour.

After this consult I will develop a shaping plan within 3 working days that I will send to you via email. Implementing the shaping plan can be done alone or with help by booking follow up training sessions. After any session continued support will be available via phone, and email for up to 3 months after your last session.
If you have multiple horses you need assessed, please contact me to discuss pricing plans.

Follow up training

£50

After an initial consult you can book follow up training. This 1-2 hour session will involve a brief evaluation of the progress you and the horse have made since the consultation/previous training session and make adjustments to the shaping plan accordingly. This can involve moving on to the next step of the shaping plan, explaining and introducing a new method to you and your horse such as target training, or work to update the training to include a new manifestation of the behaviour.

Remote consultation

Live video or phone call: £30

A remote consultation will last roughly an hour and involve the analysis of the behaviour and how it is presented to hypothesise the cause and to develop an initial training plan and immediate interventions. As the yard environment and horse cannot be observed in person, these sessions may not be as precise as an intitial consultation.

Remote training

Live video or phone call: £15

Remote training will last 30 minutes to 1 hour and allow a brief catch-up about the progress of the horse's behaviour as well as discuss how the training is fairing. Video training will allow for feedback on your timing and application of the training.
